Parkdale, PEI – Parkdale resident and Executive Director of the PEI Council of People with Disabilities, Marcia Carroll announced her intention to seek the Liberal nomination for the district of Charlottetown-Parkdale in the pending by-election to replace Doug Currie.
“I grew up in this community and have a special connection to the residents many of whom I have worked with on both a professional and volunteer basis. I am excited about the opportunity to further serve my community as a member of the Legislative Assembly for Charlottetown-Parkdale.”
For fifteen years Marcia has worked with the PEI Council of People with Disabilities, first as a Program Manager and later as the senior staff person responsible for the organization. Prior to that she served as Regional Director for the Red Cross as well as Executive Director for the Boys & Girls Club. She began her career working as a Program Manager for Women’s Network of PEI.
“I have been fortunate in my career to have worked for a number of organizations that have played advocacy and service delivery roles in addressing the needs of Islanders. These experiences have given me strong insights into the socio-economic issues our community deals with and the opportunity to work with all levels of government to achieve further gains”
Marcia graduated from UPEI with a Bachelor of Arts and has taken advanced academic training from both Holland College and the University of Winnipeg in life skills coaching and employment counselling.
“I believe the Liberal party under the leadership of Premier Wade MacLauchlan offers strong vision and community partnership to the residents of Charlottetown-Parkdale and I look forward to the chance to be part of his team,” concluded Carroll.
