Charlottetown resident Judy Hughes is seeking the Liberal nomination in District 10, Charlottetown-Winsloe.
A Sherwood resident for more than 20 years, Judy has watched her District 10 community evolve and diversify. Today she is concerned about desperately needed resources for health care, support for seniors and affordable housing.
In a career spanning more than 35 years, Judy held a variety of roles in the Public School system, including classroom teacher, School Principal, and Director of Curriculum & Professional Development with the School Board. She was a sessional lecturer for 12 years at UPEI and is a teacher with the Tutor Training Program for the Immigrant and Refugee Services Association of PEI. She is a proud Executive member of the Retired Teachers Association of PEI.
Judy has long been engaged in her community, serving as President and Executive Member of the Canadian Mental Health Association – PEI Division, implementing the Teen-mentoring program for Island students with Big Brothers Big Sisters of PEI and serving as a Board member of Charlottetown Persons with Disabilities.
A life-long member of the Liberal Party of PEI, Judy campaigned in District 8 Fort Augustus – Tracadie in the 2000 election. She also served for many years as President of District 10 Liberal Association.
She knows the district. She knows the people. She knows the needs. And she’s ready to work.
