Artist and multimedia specialist Richard Schroeter has announced his intention to seek the Liberal nomination for District 20 Kensington-Malpeque.
“The issues facing our area are the same as across PEI with lack of affordable housing, access to a family doctor and the rising cost of living,” said Richard. “For me, it’s not just an opportunity but a duty to be a voice for our district to bring forth these ideas.”
Richard has been a multimedia specialist at Veterans Affairs Canada for the last 18 years and was behind the scenes in tv and film before that for 11 years.
“As a dad and someone who has supported foster children, I understand the stresses families are facing,” said Richard. “Where’s the leadership in ensuring that we are giving enough support to the next generation of Islanders.”
Richard has been a foster parent for ten years. He has sat on the board of Film PEI for a number of years and has been a Handle With Care Facilitator for the last three years.
Richard’s father was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and his mother was born in Ten Mile House. Richard moved back to PEI in grade one and has been an active community member since then.
Richard lives with his partner in Kengiston with their children.
