Summerside business owner and social justice advocate, Nancy Beth Guptill, is seeking the Liberal Nomination for District 21, Summerside-Wilmot.
Guptill, an entrepreneur and life-long Liberal with a rich family history in Island politics, believes in the vision of moving Summerside forward into greater economic prosperity for residents and businesses. She has dedicated herself to a life of service through leadership, committed to making a difference in the lives of others.
“We are fortunate to live in a peaceful, safe and diverse community. I have a sincere and genuine interest in seeing Summerside continue to progress, flourish and grow, providing equal opportunity for everyone. To make good economic decisions that are in the best interest of all Summerside residents and Islanders, we need equal gender perspectives as well as diverse and inclusive representation in the legislature.”
Guptill has been a Summerside resident for over thirty-five years. She started her family, and established her career and small business here, after completing post-secondary studies in economic development and business. Guptill’s past work includes seven years with Summerside Economic Development (City of Summerside), giving her a strong foundation in creating her business that has now expanded to include Atlantic Canada and Ontario.
Over the years, Guptill has supported and volunteered for many organizations serving the residents and business communities of Summerside. She believes Summerside needs strong leadership, someone with established relationships, who is a collaborator and community builder, who has experience and a strong understanding of government, business, economics, politics and social issues.
“I will be a strong advocate for the district, working hard to ensure Summerside has a fair chance at all opportunities. My goal is to be a member of the legislative assembly who serves the people. I can promise openness and accessibility to all residents of District 21” says Guptill. “I believe my diverse background is a tremendous asset for both the residents and businesses of Summerside. I have over 20 years’ experience in business and economic development, and working with provincial and federal government which includes exporting my professional services outside of Prince Edward Island. I have gained a strong reputation and proven track record in supporting Island families, women, children, and youth with a focus on leadership and empowerment programs. I support traditional liberal values. To be liberal is to champion the people, to protect the rights of all regardless of age, race, gender, sexuality or ability.”
Guptill has achieved great success and experienced extreme loss, all of which she believes has prepared her for this very moment of launching her political career. “I am excited to be running for the Liberal nomination in District 21 and becoming the next MLA for the district. I want to be a part of Premier MacLauchlan’s team, which I fully support. It is about leadership, relationships and a life of service, to lift and elevate the lives of others, helping people, businesses and organizations to shape their destinies and their communities.”
