Sharon Cameron and the Liberal Team are putting healthcare first. The Liberal Leader previously called on the King government to recall the legislature for an emergency debate to address the province’s healthcare crisis.
“We called on the King government to recall the legislature and work on a plan for healthcare in this province, but instead, it appears we’re on the eve of an election call,” said Cameron. “The PEI Liberal Party is ready to put healthcare at the forefront of our plan for Islanders because we believe it is the most important duty a government has to its citizens.”
Islanders need a serious and timely plan to address the following:
- The doctor shortage
- The ballooning patient registry
- Unacceptable health care wait times.
The government of PEI, starting with the Premier of PEI, needs to be committed to transformative change and accountability to every Islander so that they will receive timely access to healthcare services.
“There is no question our Island has been through a lot over the last number of years. Yet, our spirit is not broken, nor is our hope and optimism for a better future curtailed,” said Cameron. “And while we intend to put healthcare first, the state of our economy, the affordability of life on the Island, the well-being of our environment – these and other issues require thoughtful attention and competent leadership as well.”
The Liberal leader is pleased with the Islanders who have come together – and put their names forward as Liberal candidates. The new Liberal Team represents the most diverse slate of people in the history of Island politics. The Liberal team is looking forward to meeting Islanders on the doorstep, in communities, and online as we hear your concerns and issues and work together for all Islanders from all walks of life.
