PEI Liberal Party Announces the Launch of its Leadership Contest 

The PEI Liberal Party has announced it will host its leadership convention in November 2021, said Party President Don Leary. 

“I’m pleased today to announce the launch of the PEI Liberal leadership contest.” 

“This is an exciting opportunity to build on the rich history of the PEI Liberal Party and all that we have achieved and will continue to achieve together.” 

The Leadership Convention will be held on Saturday, November 13, giving Island Liberals the opportunity to select the next Leader of the Party. 

“We welcome all contestants who share our commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive Island Community to step forward and share their vision of how we can move forward together.” 

The new Leader will replace Sonny Gallant, who has been serving as Interim Leader of the PEI Liberal Party since September 2019. 

Added Leary, “We thank Sonny Gallant for his tireless work in holding the Conservatives to account and engaging with Island Liberals throughout the pandemic.” 

Said Interim Leader Sonny Gallant, “In welcoming our new Leader, The PEI Liberal Party and our Liberal Caucus will continue working hard to earn back the trust that Islanders have long placed in us.”
