A passionate farmer and local tourism operator, Flory Sanderson owns and operates Island Hill Farm.

Flory moved to PEI at the age of 15 from Aylmer, Que. She met her husband, Robby Sanderson and has lived and co-operated on the family farm in Hampshire since the 1990s.

Flory combines her retail experience with her love of agriculture.

“Farmer Flory,” as she is warmly known to many, shows tens of thousands of families and tourists around her goat farm that produces meat, milk, soap and other products. Island Hill Farm has grown since its launch in 2013 to a full-year operation that supports many local businesses. Island Hill Farm is many young Islanders’ first experience with agriculture. Flory hopes to inspire and educate about farming and local food production.

Mental health and well-being are important issues to Flory, as she and her family have dealt with various issues and lacked access to critical care that jeopardized their health.

Flory gives back to the community through the Duke of Edinburgh Awards, CG2023, Dancing with the Stars for Hospice PEI, Rotary Club and reading to children and seniors with her farm friends.

She is a mother to three daughters, Rebecca, Jennifer and Casey.
