Don Leary has been an integral part of the community fabric of Cornwall – Meadowbank since purchasing and operating the Cornwall Save Easy, now Independent Grocer, in 2002. A longtime local business owner, Don takes pride in the fact that his store offered many residents of Cornwall- Meadowbank their first work experience.

While Don is most well-known in the community as the Owner/Operator of the Save Easy and Independent Grocer, Don is also known for his active community involvement as a church treasurer and member of the Cornwall Lions Club. Don’s community activism extended beyond his local church and lions club ties, leading him to serve as a past President of the PEI Liberal Party.

Born in Summerside and raised in Borden, PE, Don graduated from Kinkora Regional High School and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from UPEI.

In 2020, Don sold the Independent Grocer to spend more time with his wife of over thirty years, Juanita, and their daughter Desiree, who lives in Cornwall with her husband, Jamie.

Don believes that his commitment and capacity to support the Cornwall – Meadowbank community would provide him with the opportunity to listen to neighbours and residents and be their voice in the provincial legislature.
