Gail MacDonald has been a resident of Stratford for over 44 years. She and her late husband raised their four children here. Her past work experience includes a 37-year career with the Charlottetown Police Services as a 911 police dispatcher. Following the amalgamation in 1995, she went on to become the 911 Coordinator and Records Supervisor for the Department.

Gail joined political life in 2014 when she was elected to the Stratford Town Council as a municipal councillor. She was successfully re-elected four years later. During her eight years on Council, she held various positions, including Chair of Recreation and Chair of Finance and member of the Federation of PEI Municipalities. She was instrumental in the research and volunteer fundraising to see the completion of Stratford’s first skatepark, which has been a huge success. Her Council also supported her to be an elected official on the national Board of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

Gail wants to continue her desire to be the voice of the people in the place she has called home for so long. She is very much aware of the concerns facing the residents of her district and province, including housing and significant medical issues that must be addressed at the provincial level.
