District 23 | Tyne Valley – Sherbrooke
Paula Biggar has served the people of District 23 since 2007. She was elected Deputy Speaker of the Legislative in 2007, re-elected in that position in 2011 and appointed to Cabinet in 2015 as Minister of Transportation Infrastructure Energy and Minister Responsible for Status of Women.
Paula has served on numerous Standing Committees of the Legislative Assembly, including:
Chair of the Standing Committee for Privileges, Rules and Private Bills
Chair of the Standing Committee for Agriculture, Environment and Energy
Chair of the Standing Committee for Health, Social Development and Seniors
Member of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts
Paula graduated from UPEI with a Diploma in Public Administration, and was an Educational Assistant with the Western School Board prior to being elected.
Paula was born in Tyne Valley, raised on a small family farm and is a life long resident of Prince County. She has been a Municipal Councillor and volunteered in many aspects of community life.
Paula lives in Bideford with her husband Dale. They raised two daughters and have three grandchildren.
